LONG-AWAITED TRANSPORTATION CENTER MARKS A NEW BEGINNING

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new North Charleston Intermodal Transportation Center was held Thursday, August 24th adjacent to the current Amtrak facility site. The long-awaited project is marked as “a new front door to the Lowcountry and an important development for regional transportation” according to CARTA Board Chairman, Mike Seekings.

Brownstone has been selected by the City of North Charleston as Construction Manager for the $15 Million project. The facility will include offices, meeting rooms, and a designated area for history of the surrounding Liberty Hill neighborhood, one of the oldest Charleston communities, to be on display. To be chosen as part of such a highly anticipated project for the City, surrounding areas, and millions of travelers that will venture in and out of the transportation hub, is not a factor that Brownstone takes lightly. We are honored to be entrusted with such a task.

The transportation center is scheduled to be completed and operational by the end of 2018.
